At Cainex, I led the design of an AI-assisted medical coding platform. Medical coding is a compliance-sensitive process where clinical documentation must be translated into billing codes that determine hospital reimbursement and where decisions are routinely audited months after the fact.

The core design challenge wasn't accuracy. It was defensibility. Hospitals needed a system that could automate repetitive work without removing accountability from the people responsible for it.

The resulting interface organized claims by AI confidence, surfaced supporting evidence for human review, and preserved a full audit trail for every decision. The design helped secure 6+ pilot partnerships and served as the primary tool for communicating the system's value to enterprise healthcare partners.
